The Fun Day is back! The whole community will come together on Saturday July 15 to celebrate Tooting and who we are. Cultures, businesses, faith bodies, public services, community groups and voluntary organisations and the general public will unite for a day of fun in the sun.
For children and families, there’ll be fairground rides, inflatables, farm animals, stalls, sports, face-painting, crafts, a clown, traditional sideshows, and fabulous food from an array of cultures. Check your health and find out about staying healthy at the NHS ‘Health and Well Being Hub’. It’ll offer free health checks and advice (BMI, blood pressure etc) and lots of stands with advice on a healthy lifestyle and avoiding disease. A new feature will bring older and younger people together – an oral history activity in which older people will recount their experiences of Tooting from WW2 on.
There’ll also be a Black History exhibition from the Wandsworth Community Empowerment Network, and many community groups and charities are bringing stands to spread the word about their work and network with each other.
Civic and political leaders coming include Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, Dr Rosena Allin-Khan, MP for Tooting, Councillor James Madden, the Mayor of Wandsworth, and Ravi Govindia, Leader of Wandsworth Council, as well as senior faith leaders.
Tooting Daily PRSS will of course also be in attendance. We look forward to seeing you there!
